Earl Joseph Lirette, 80, a native of Donner, La., a former resident of Thibodaux, La., and a resident of Paradis, La., for 47 years, died Tuesday, March 3.


He is survived by his son, Bryon A. Lirette; daughter, Karen Lirette Boudreaux and husband Terry P. Boudreaux; sisters, Mary Ellen Lirette, Diana Hughey and Bernice “Bea” Knight; and grandchildren, Brent G. Boudreaux, Nicholas J. Lirette, Christina A. Lirette, and Melissa Boudreaux Embry and husband James. W. Embry.


He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mirley Rodrigue Lirette; parents, Joseph H. and Elvina Melancon Lirette; one infant son; brothers, Clyde, Nicholas and Leander Lirette; and sister, Pamella Lirette.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and belonged to the American Legion Post of Des Allemands, La., and VFW Post 3750 of Luling, La. He was a member of 40 & 8, a lifetime member of Walter I. Lanier Masonic Lodge # 307 and was a 32 degree Mason. He was retired from El Paso Corp, formerly known as Sonat Exploration, and was an oilfield consultant for Eagle Consulting. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Paradis.

He was buried at St. Charles Cemetery in Luling.

Falgout Funeral Home of Raceland, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
