Edmond Joseph Babin, 78, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014.

Mr. Babin was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church. He retired from McDermott as a welder. He enjoyed spending his time with family and grandchildren. He was a life member with 30 years of service to Lion’s International. He spent most of his years with the Evergreen Lion’s Club and the last few years with La Bonne Terre Lion’s Club. He served many positions and offices during his time with the club.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Babin; sons, Christopher (Cecile), Keith (Bessie), Karl, Clark, Ken and Kevin (Ada) Babin; brothers, Stanley, Reubin and Ronald Babin; 13 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and one great-grandchild.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmond and Odilia Babin; son, Philip Babin; and one grandchild.  

Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, and 8 to 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at Chauvin Funeral Home with Liturgy of the Word to follow. Burial will be at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
