Edward Antoine “Pickett” Matherne, 51, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died Tuesday, May 26, at 11:06 p.m.


He is survived by his wife, Amber Anderberg Matherne of Denver, Colo.; father, Kirlin Matherne of Raceland; son, Chad Matherne and wife Angela of Houma, La.; brothers, Aaron Matherne and wife Nola of Bayou Boeuf, La., and Duane Matherne and wife Kasey of Raceland; sisters, Anita Bourgeois and husband Deacon Brent Bourgeois, and Lauren Matherne and husband C.J. Matherne, all of Raceland; eight nieces; three nephews; one great-niece; and one great-nephew.


He was preceded in death by his mother, Lou Emma Loupe Matherne; brother, Carl “Carlo” Matherne; grandparents, Clarence Sr. and Cecile Matherne, and Edward Sr. and Amelia Loupe; and godfather, Jerry Matherne.

He was a 1975 graduate of Central Lafourche High School and attended Nicholls State University. He served in the Louisiana National Guard and was employed in the oil field as a truck driver. Most recently, he was employed by his son as a technician at Matherne Instrumentation.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4, at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Raceland with burial at the church cemetery.

Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
