Edward Rome Etheridge, 87, a native of Steubenville, Ohio, and resident of Houma, La., died Wednesday, June 15, 2011.

Mr. Etheridge was a retired U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Mt. Pilgrim B.C.


He is survived by his son, Stanley Briggs; daughters, Edith Etheridge, Lorraine Griffin and Evette and Peggy Hall; brothers, Levi and Joseph Simmons; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Williams; second wife, Elnora Etheridge; third wife, Ella Etheridge; parents, Nettie and Levi Simmons; son, Norris Briggs; brothers, Eugene, Johnny Sr. and Ozell Simmons; and sisters, Jessie Cummings, Thelma Hicks and Bobbie Lee Butler.

Burial was at Halfway Cemetery. (Community)
