Elcé John Pinell, 87, a native of Chauvin, La., and resident of Montegut, La., died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010.


Mr. Pinell was a member, usher and served on the pastoral council at Sacred Hearth Catholic Church in Montegut. He was a member of the American Legion Post 272, the Montegut Carnival Club and the Montegut Volunteer Fire Department. He was a past member of the Lions Club and past member of the Texaco Retirees Club. He was a past board member of Whitney Bank. He retired from Texaco with 33 years of service.


He is survived by his wife, Ruth LeBoeuf Pinell; sons, Mike (Susan) and Don (Donna) Pinell; daughters, Linda (Allen) Savoie and Tina (Wayne) Moran; brother, Druby Pinell; sisters, Beulah Blanchard, Alice Usie and Eula Mae Boquet; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubin and Gertrude Duplantis Pinell; brothers, Luby Sr. and Albert Pinell Sr.; and sisters, Alan “Talan” Pinell, Gertrude Guidry and Mildred Areas.

He is buried at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery in Montegut.
