Eldridge Joseph “E.J.” Bertrand Sr., 80, a native of Rayne, La., and resident of Morgan City, La., died Thursday, March 25, 2010, at Teche Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Bertrand served from 1951-56 in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed camping with the Bayou Ramblers, working in his garden and cooking.


He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Emma Chaisson Bertrand; daughters; Donna (Edward) Jones, Faith Ann Wilson, Monica Governale and Deborah (Donald) Keller; son, Eldridge “E.J.” (Chary) Bertrand Jr.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Ida Bertrand Falgout.

He is buried at the Morgan City Mausoleum.
