Local lawmakers’ pre-filings a mixed bag
March 25, 2010Elise C. Morvant, 89, a native and resident of Thibodaux, La., died Wednesday, March 17, 2010.
She is survived by son, Claiborne (Yvonne) Morvant Sr.; sisters, Rita Thibodeaux and Shirley Boudreaux; 10 grandchildren, Claiborne Morvant Jr., Tammy (Richard) Schmitt, Scott (Amy), Mike (Jessie) and Betsy Morvant, Nikki (Russell) Osborne, Matt Morvant, Rhonda Garcelon, Ronald Jr. (Jane) and Shannon (Carla) Melancon; 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvin Morvant; parents, Alcee and Laura Chiasson; daughter, Diana Melancon; brothers, Dennis, Clarence and Huey Chiasson; and sisters, Leona Gauthier, Mae Morvant, Maria Gauthier and Rosa May Chiasson.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 20, at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux. Mass will follow at noon at the church.
She will be buried at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral Church Cemetery in Thibodaux.
Thibodaux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
