Elmo Joseph Falgout, 94, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died Saturday, February 21, at 4 p.m.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen R. Falgout; son, Elmo J. Falgout Jr. and wife Betty; daughter, Tanya F. Saucier and husband Timmy; sister, Sadie F. Laris; grandchildren, Grant, Gregg and Garrett Falgout and Kyle and Kayla Saucier; and great-grandchildren, Shawnee, Randall, Lauren and Brooke Falgout.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Clodomir Falgout and Elvire Grabert Falgout; brothers, Nelson, Allence, Idie and Loney; and sisters, Sidna F. Hunter, Maude F. Pierpont, Lizzie F. Domangue and Josephine F. Aucoin.

He retired from the Louisiana State Police as a lieutenant with 28 years of service and went on to serve with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office as a major for 13 years. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, February 23, at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 24, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Raceland. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday with entombment at the church cemetery.
