Elodie Rome

Elodie G. Rome, 72, a native of Kraemer, La., and resident of Vacherie, La., died at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011.

Mrs. Rome was a devoted teacher even after retiring from Lafourche Parish Schools. She loved spending time with family and friends, traveling and being a mother figure to many and especially to her devoted daughter, Inez. She was president of St. James Arc, a member of the Lions Club, Catholic Daughters and TOPS.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Rome; son, Nathan (Violet); daughters, Marcella (Michael) Kliebert and special needs daughter, Inez Rome; one grandchild, Billy Kliebert; two step-grandchildren, Cedric and Coty Rome; one step-great-grandchild, Savannah Rome; brothers, Wilfred and Chester Granier; and sisters, Rosemary Adams, Iris Landry, Dorothy Granier and Ramona Folse.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Dorothy Granier; two brothers, Oscar and Byron Granier; and one sister, Pamela Becnel.
