Elves Jean Mars Sr., 84, a native and resident of Chackbay, La. died Monday, February 11, 2008.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Kliebert Mars; sons, Elves Mars Jr. and wife, Therese, Wayne Mars and wife, Nancy, and Brian Mars and wife, Brenda; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Mars and Alzire Rodrigue Mars; brother, Edwist Mars; and aunt, Erelina Mars Trosclair.
Elves served in four major air offenses as a medic in the 22nd Infantry Regiment during World War II and retired after 32 years of service with Avondale Shipyard.
Interment was in the Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church cemetery.
Thibodaux Funeral Home in Thibodaux is in charge of the arrangements.
