Elvira “Vera” Marie Trahan Cadiere, 55, a native and resident of Houma, La., died at 10:05 p.m. Monday, May 28, 2010, after battling cancer.


Mrs. Cadiere loved Mardi Gras and was known as the “Queen of Mardi Gras.”


She is survived by her companion, David “Z-Man” Zirlot; son, Jerry (Maronda) Cadiere Jr.; daughters, Tina (Dennis) David, Heidi L. Cadiere and Laura C. Breaux; brothers, Albert (Carolann), and Harvey (Genny) Trahan Jr.; 16 grandchildren; stepchildren, Terry Landry and Dawn Bourg; and sister-in-law, Jeanetta Trahan.

Mrs. Cadiere is buried at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houma.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated for funeral expenses.
