Emelda Landry Benoit, 77, a resident of Thibodaux, LA. and a native of Choupic, LA., died Monday, Dec. 25, 2006.


Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Thibodaux Funeral Home and from 8 to 11 a.m. funeral time, in which mass will take place, Thursday at St. John the Evangelist. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux.

She is survived by her husband, Russel C. Benoit; 2 sons, Russel “Rusty” Benoit II and wife, Grace, and Ward Benoit and wife, Anne; 3 daughters, Sheryle Chauvin and husband, Harold, Beverly Pitre and husband, Daryl, and Janet Benoit; 2 brothers, Whitney “Nick” and Charles “Man” Landry; 2 sisters, Hilda Melancon and Ida Clement, 6 grandchildren, Celeste Boudreaux, Amanda Pitre, Adam Pitre, Jeremy Arceneaux, Brock Benoit, and Drew Benoit, and 4 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sylvain and Helena Percle Landry; one brother, Phillip Landry; one step brother, Joseph Landry; 2 sisters, Marie Landry and Iris Clement; one step sister, Josephine Bolotte, and 4 grandchildren.

Thibodaux Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
