Emily Kelley Carline, 81, a native of Bayou Chene, La., and resident of Charenton, La., died at 8:07 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, 2011.


Mrs. Carline was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, whose life revolved around family and friends. She was always ready to help those in need. Her home was the gathering place for the whole family, as well as all of their friends, especially during swimming season.


She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Mary) and Marglynn (Catherine) Carline; daughters, Paula (Preston Jr.) Burke, Pamela (Sidgy Jr.) Benoit and Myra (Richard) Meche; brothers, George (Patricia), Millard and Darrell Kelley; sister, Joyce Carline; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tunney Carline; an infant daughter; parents, Charles and Elizabeth Kelley; and brothers, Arthur, Earl and Darby Kelley.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Ibert’s Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charenton with burial at the church cemetery. (Ibert’s)
