Errol James Chouest,69, passed away at 12:45PM, Wednesday, April 4, 2018. He was a native and resident of Houma, LA.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation from 9:00AM until service time at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houma, LA on Saturday, April 7, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Saturday at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church at 12:00PM with services concluding after Mass. A private burial will take place at a later date.

Errol is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Myra Chouest; Children, Errol Anthony Chouest, Ronnette “Ronnie” Chouest Pellegrin and husband Charles Pellegrin, Brandy Chouest (Jabert) Plaisance and husband Abel Plaisance; grandchildren, Faith Jabert, Grace Plaisance, Hope Plaisance; brother, Anthony “Tony” Garay and partner Chris Fench, Robert “Bozo” Chouest and wife Marion “Bozette”; sister, Paula and late husband Melvin “David” Blanton, Pamela and late husband Duval “Tommy” Ledet, Patricia “Pat” and husband Charles “Barney” Buller, Genevieve “Genny” and husband Harvey Trahan, and Donna and husband Howard Boudreaux; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Errol is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony Paul Chouest and Lena “Rosalie” Tregre Chouest; paternal grandparents, Odon Joseph Chouest and Louise Rogers Chouest; maternal grandparents, Similian Tregre and Aramise Matherne and maternal grandmother, Regina Loupe Matherne.

Errol was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his family. He attended Nicholls State University and worked for Main Iron Works, Inc. for twenty-one years as a fitter, welder and foreman on the drydocks. He was a 3rd Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, Council #1317. He served the Parish of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary as a Eucharistic Minister. He loved to spend time with his family and friends; all while playing practical jokes on those he loved.

He will be dearly missed by family and friends; but never, ever forgotten.
