Ervin J. “Picou” Richard, 76, a native of Belle River, La., and resident of St. Mary Parish, La., died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012.
Mr. Richard was a true Frenchman who spoke French and enjoyed Cajun music. He opened Richard’s Bait Shop which became Richard’s Seafood and Oyster House and Catering. He was a very kind and giving man and hosted countless benefits to help those in need.
He is survived by his son, Danny (Theresa) Richard; daughter, Janice (Larry) Aucoin; brothers, Horace, Jimmy (Linda) and Hamilton (Frankie) Richard; sister, Laura (Vernon) Payne; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and mother of his children, Odelia Bergeron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Angeline Richard; daughters, Jackie and Julie; grandson, Justin Aucoin; brother, Eugene Richard; sister, Ellen Duval; and stepfather, Louis Richard.
Burial was at Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery in Belle River. (Hargrave)
