Estelle Williams Alvis, 56, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, May 31, at 12 p.m.

She is survived by her sons, Veron C. Alvis Jr. and wife Gloria, Burnell C. Alvis and wife Kody, and Nicholas C. Alvis; daughter, JoaQuina Alvis Simmons and husband Charles Simmons Jr.; brothers, Walter Williams and Benjamin Williams and wife Joyce Ann Williams; sisters, Maryann Wallis and husband Alvin, Kathryn Valentine and husband Eugene, Gertrude Spruel and husband Elmo, and Rosemary Johnson; and nine grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon C. Alvis Sr.; parents, Harrison Williams Jr. and Florence Williams; brother, Junis James Williams; and grandparents, Harrison Williams Sr. and Mary Williams.

She was Baptist and a member of Greater New Salem Baptist Church. She was employed at Terrebonne General Medical Center and St. Francis.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, June 5, at Community Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at Greater New Salem Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church.
