Eugene L. Campo Sgt. Major Ret USMC, 81, a resident and native of Napoleonville, La., died Monday, Nov. 27, 2006.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006 at Landry’s Funeral Home in Napoleonville and from 8 to 10 a.m. funeral time Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Napoleonville.


He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rita Landry Guidry; his sons, Eugene L. Campo, Jr. and Bruce Campo; his daughters, Lu C. Oxley and husband, Bill of Denver, Colorado, Elaine C. Arcement and husband, Alan of Labadieville, La., and Diane C. Dugas and husband, Joey of Napoleonville; 12 grand children, and 4 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Annette Daudmon Campo; his brothers, Owen, A.C, Roy, Alvin, and Joseph Campo, Jr., and sister, Elmire Gilbert.

He is a retired Sgt. Major of the U.S. Marine Corps with 29 years of service. He is a veteran of W.W. II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. He also received a Purple Heart during Vietnam. After his retirement in 1972, Wugene enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
