Eustache “E.J.” Lafont Jr., 88, a native and resident of Grand Isle, La., died at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, November 20.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl Santiny Lafont; four sons, Larry, Jay, Claude and Victor Lafont; four daughters, Kathy Hebert, Darleen Brewer, Connie Tillery and Victoria Lafont; two brothers, Ernest Lafont and Clifford Lafont; 25 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eustache Lafont Sr. and Selina Crosby Lafont; one daughter, Vanessa Lafont; two brothers, Jerry Lafont and Kilben Lafont; and four sisters, Clothilde Boudreaux, Agatha Soderstrum, Loretta Stanick and Mable Santiny.
He was a retired security guard for Exxon Company USA and a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a charter member of the American Legion and remained a member for 60 years. He served as constable of Grand Isle for two terms and as alderman for two terms. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Isle Catholic Church.
He was buried at Our Lady of the Isle Catholic Church Cemetery in Grand Isle.
