April 15, 2010Ferris Joseph Ledet Sr., 68, a native of New Orleans, La., and resident of Houma, La., died at 5:20 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, of cancer and multiple medical problems.
Mr. Ledet was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Church and a PFC for the U.S. Army National Guard, serving in Fort Dix, N.J. He worked in the oilfield industry for more than 25 years as a roughneck and boat captain. His medical disability forced him to retire at age 57.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lorraine Kraemer Ledet; son, Ferris (Tanya) Ledet Jr.; daughters, Lisa (fiancé Reynold Boudreaux) Foret, Cindy (Tim) Braud, Gertie (Kevin) Bergeron, Christen (fiancé Brandon Scott) Ledet; stepmother, Lois Ledet Lackey; half-brothers, David (Dotsie), Johnny (Patsy), Floyd (Emily), Lloyd (Lois), Marvin (fiancée Pat), Joel and Brent (Jessica) Ledet; half-sisters, Joa Ann Brien and Kayla (Jeffery) Wechan; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

He is buried at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
