Floyd Joseph Verret, 76, a native of Bayou Chene, La., and resident of Bayou Vista, La., died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012.


Mr. Verret was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Tidewater Marine after 29 years of employment. He served 11 years on the Board of Commissioners of Sewage Districts 5 and 8. He was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and the Bayou Vista Ultreya. His motto was to always put God first, others second and himself third.


He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Juanita Verret; son Chad (Cheryl) Verret; daughter, Tulonna (Jim) Oliver; sisters, Velma (Eldridge) Williams, Alberta LeBlanc and Lois Giroir; brothers, Russel (Mary) and Albert Verret; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Althea Verret; and son, Mel Verret.

Interment was at St. Joseph Mausoleum in Patterson. (Hargrave)
