Francis Joseph Pitre, 87, a native and resident of Cut Off, La. died Friday, December 14, 2007, at 8:47 p.m.


He is survived by his wife, Rovina Arceneaux; two sons, Roy and Charles Pitre; two daughters, Edwina Duncanson and Charlene Pitre; one brother, Robert Pitre; one sister, Nora Pitre; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Elphege and Argentina Bychurch Pitre; two brothers, Eusebe and Volcare Pitre; and three sisters, Stella Cantrelle, Louisa Griffin, and Lula Saia.

Francis was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galliano, La. He served his country in the United States Army.

Visitation is Monday, December 17, 2007, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with the funeral to follow at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Cut Off. He will be buried in Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano.

Samart-Mothe Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
