Francois “Frank” Vegas, 97, a native of Lafourche Parish and resident of Cut Off, La., died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at Samart Funeral Home in Cut Off. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Cheramie Cemetery.


He is survived by one son, Bobby F. Vegas; three daughters, Neva M. Vegas, Jeanette Cheramie Cheramie and Atticia V. LaCoste; one sister, Amy Bruce; five grandchildren, Susan Callais, Robin Pitre, Jackie LeBouef, Francois LaCoste and Lauren LaCoste; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorena C. Vegas; his parents, Raphel and Leotine Vegas; two brothers, Cyriel and Tilman Vegas; four sisters, Esther Vegas, Alzine Autin, Lucretia Vegas and Sedonia Doucet.

He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was an avid gardener.

Samart Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
