Gail Barnhill Picou, 61, a native of Lafayette, La., and a resident of Gray, La., died Sunday, March 1.


She is survived by her sons, Ricky James Picou Sr. and wife Angel, and Roger Joseph Picou Jr.; brothers, Wilfred Barnhill and Nathan Barnhill; sister, Marian Barnhill; and grandchildren, Megan Lynn Picou, Amber Nicole Picou and Ricky James Picou.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Joseph Picou Sr.; parents, James Barnhill and Nelva Saucier Barnhill; brothers, Michael Barnhill and James Barnhill; and sister, Sheryl Marcel.

She was a retired insurance broker for AFLAC, State National and Woodmen of the World. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion and Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing softball. She was Catholic.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at Chauvin Funeral Home. Liturgy of the Word will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with burial at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
