Gene “Luke” Simmons, 68, a native of St. Louis, Mo., and a resident of Houma, La., died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010.
Mr. Simmons was a member of the Nicholls State University baseball and basketball Halls of Fame. He was a teacher and basketball coach with Terrebonne Parish for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Simmons; sons, William (Penny), David and Jacob Simmons; grandchildren, Madeline and Anne Morgan Simmons; nephews, Michael Millet and Scott Ortinau; and niece, Kimberly Ortinau.
Burial was at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
