Genevieve Chauvin Eschete, 69, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died at 6:50 a.m. Friday, September 12.


She is survived by her husband, Donald J. Eschete of Houma; two daughters, Lisa Eschete Mosely and Amy Eschete Keene of Houma; one brother, Lucius Chauvin Jr. of Houma; three sisters, Gertrude C. Byrd, Shirley C. Brunet of Houma and Virginia C. Harrington of Lafayette, La.; endeared family member, Percy Mosely; two grandchildren, Ross Michael Keene and wife Katie McCoy Keene and Olivia Claire Mosely; and two great-grandchildren, Bailey Lynn and Breanna Rose.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucius Chauvin Sr. and Olivia Picou Chauvin; one daughter, Donna Claire Eschete; and two sisters, Evela Chauvin and Ella Mae C. Champagne.

She was a retired jury commissioner with Terrebonne Parish Clerk of Court for 27 years. She was a very dedicated employee. She was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral with mass to follow. She will be buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
