Genevieve Duplantis Chauvin, 73, a native and resident of Chauvin, La., died at 11:22 p.m. Monday, June 2.


She is survived by her sons, Christopher “Chris” Chauvin and wife, JoAnn, and Everett Chauvin and wife, Michelle; daughter, Louise Lapeyrouse and husband, Mark; sister, Janice Peltier; grandchildren, Tiffany, Tiesha, Renee, Toby, Nicholas, Scott, Daniel, Melanie, Angele’, Hailey, Aylssa and Avery; and great-grandchildren, Stacey, Serenity, Chrystan, Mackenzie, Austin, Kaitlyn, Emiley, Breana, Mason, Brianna, Seth, Chase and Jena.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Curman Chauvin; and her parents, Rene’ and Justine Blanchard Duplantis.

She was a member of St. Joseph Altar Society and the Lagniappe on the Bayou Singers. She was a resident of the Oaks of Houma where she served as past president of the residence council. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She will be missed by all her family and many friends.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, June 5, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Chauvin with mass to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin. She will be buried at the church cemetery.

Samart Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
