Genevieve B. Lafont, 83, a native of Houma, La., and resident of Golden Meadow, La., died Tuesday, April 26, 2011.


Mrs. Lafont was a homemaker and a member of Lighthouse Worship Center.


She is survived by her son, Julian Lafont Jr.; daughters, Rosalie Blackwell, Angela LeBlanc, Christine Pitre and raised Anna Nugent; 12 grandchildren, Gwen Gullett, Gina Kinchen, Chad Pitre, Terence and Micah LeBlanc, Joshua, Jonathan and Elizabeth Blackwell, Leah Adams, Lilah Hunter, and Brandon and Jenna Nugent; 19 great-grandchildren, Victoria, David and Daniel Gullett, Stevie, Nathaniel and Orion Kinchen, Emma, Hallie, Ian, Zach, Nate and Micah Pitre, Macy and D.J. Adams, Elise and Maiya Hunter, Chandler and Isabella LeBlanc and Kaelyn Bellanger; cousins, Murphy “Fry”, Abby, Dickie and Ray Cheramie and Mae Mae Theriot; and sisters, Rosalie Duplantis and Barbara Ledet.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Julien “Cox” Lafont; parents, Yancy and Rosalie Cheramie Boudreaux; raised by her aunt and uncle, Leonise and Sylvest Cheramie; and one sister, Nell Hebert.

She is buried at Cheramie Cemetery. (Samart-Mothe)
