George P. “Lulu” Melancon, 75, a native and resident of Lockport, La., died at 5:50 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010.


Mr. Melancon enjoyed gardening, hunting with his dogs, raising cattle and spending time with his family. He was the past owner and operator of Melancon Fabrication and Melancon Cattle Farm. He was a parishioner of Holy Savior Catholic Church.

He is survived by his son, Arthur “Art” (Kari) Melancon; daughters, Amy (Tommy) Pitre and Angie Broussard; sister, Peggy (Alvin) Terrebonne; five grandchildren, Aaron (Ashli Daigle), Cody (Michelle Boudreaux) and Abby Pitre, and Lani and Logan Paul Melancon; and one great-grandchild, Hunter Pitre.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Georgina Allemand Melancon.

He is buried at Holy Savior Catholic Church Cemetery.
