George Robert Popay Jr., 62, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, May 17, 2011.
Mr. Popay was a diehard LSU fan and requested that all attendees wear purple and gold, preferably LSU. He loved playing Santa Claus for all his nieces and nephews, and loved playing practical jokes. He was a longtime “Camp BlueBird” camper. He will be missed by all.
He is survived by his son, Coy (Dawn Duet) Popay; daughter, Kacey (Ben) Folse; mother, Catherine Chatagnier Popay; sister, Ava (Mike) Fontenot; five grandchildren, Brooke and Seth Popay, Forest “Gump” Verdin, and Marlie and Mia Folse; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Popay Sr.; nephew, Lindsey Robert Fontenot; and grandparents, Morris and Alice Chatagnier, and George and Annie Popay.
In lieu of flowers, he would like donations to be made to Vandebilt Catholic High School Athletic Fund in his name or to SPCA in his name. (Samart)
