George A. Savoie, 56, a native and resident of Houma, La., died at 9:02 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011.

He is survived by his mother, Eleanor Duet Savoie; siblings, Marie (Godfrey) Buquet, Warren (Helen) Savoie and Earline Slaaen; and numerous nephews.


He was preceded in death by his father, Claude J. Savoie; and a niece.

The family would like to thank the following: Bayou Cane Fire-Rescue, Terrebonne Sheriff’s Office, Terrebonne Coroner’s Investigator Danny Theriot, for their efficient response and professionalism. A blessful thank you to Nurse Samantha Fanguy, who always showed so much concern for our George. Also to the office of Dr. Jules Dupont and staff, particularly Nurse Practitioner Julie Rhodes, whom George had unlimited faith in. Special thanks go to George’s extended family, neighbors and friends. He was so grateful to those in and around the Duet Street-Bayou Cane community who were so kind to him in his everyday visits. Our appreciation goes to the many employees of nearby stores and businesses who took the time to speak and listen to him. Everyone was a blessing to George who loved God and nature. Thanks are also extended to Krystal Dupre of Samart Funeral Home for her compassion in helping the family with arrangements. (Samart)
