Gerald Joseph Trahan, 64, a native of Chauvin, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Saturday, April 2, 2011.


Mr. Trahan was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. He was the retired District Chief for the Houma Fire Department where he served for 31 years. He was a 20-year veteran for the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, a past member for the Civil Service Board for over 20 years and he served on the Fire Municipal Pension Service Board. He also served as the local firefighter’s Union President. He was an avid deer hunter and outdoorsman, and he enjoyed riding his motorcycle.


He is survived by his wife, Nancy Eschete Trahan; brothers, Richard and Jerald Trahan; sister, Gail Blanchard; his faithful companion, Baby Girl; and Brandi Thomas and numerous other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doville and Enola Martin Trahan; and brother, Renauld Trahan.

He is buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
