Gertrude “Gert” Foret Forrestier Chiasson, 79, a native of Raceland, La., and resident of Lockport, La., died Saturday, May 10, 2014.
Mrs. Chiasson was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a good cook, seamstress and gardener and as a young mother she was very active in the Parent Teachers Association, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. She loved working in her yard where she took pride in growing beautiful roses which she placed at the altar of Holy Savior.
She is survived by her husband, Erjie Chiasson; daughters, Stephanie (Randy) Dandry and Sheila (Camille) Adams; sons, Sidney (Peggy) and Stuart (Karen) Forrestier; siblings, Vickie Chiasson, May Young and Allen, Clarence, Donald and Leonard Foret; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Forrestier; parents, Davis and May Foret; stepmother, Anna Foret; brothers, Norris and Samuel Foret; and sisters; Alice Pierce, Enid Dimarco and Lydia Folse.
Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, and 8 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Falgout Funeral Home in Lockport. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Holy Savior Church in Lockport. Burial will be at the church cemetery. (Falgout)
