Grover Atson Nicely, 92, a native of Crewe, Va., and a resident of Houma, La., died Monday, July 27.

He is survived by one grandson, Pete Brown; one grandniece, Melody Ogelsbee and family; and one grandnephew, Gus Brown.

He was widowed twice, to Hazel Saffell Nicely and Doris Miller Nicely. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Florence and Sibby; and one brother, Pete.

He was formerly of Chauvin where he enjoyed playing pool each day at the senior center. He was most recently a long time resident of Terrebonne House in Houma. He moved to Louisiana from Maryland where he had worked as a plumber to be closer to family, near his grandson, Earl Brown. In his youth he kept a boat for his weekend fishing trips. He was in poor health recently, but maintained a sharp memory.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Terrebonne House for their excellent care and companionship, Bayou Medical Staffing for their friendship and attention, Journey Hospice of Houma and the staff of Chateau Terrebonne for their caring in his final days.

There are no services scheduled at this time.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
