Behind basin restoration, Maloz leads

H.V. “Choo Choo” Fondren Jr., 78, a native of Patterson, La., and resident of Morgan City, La., died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011.
Mr. Fondren was a descendent of early Morgan City settlers. He graduated from Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now ULL) where he lettered four years in football then worked with his father for the next 27 years at Blackie Fondren Concrete. He was involved in many civic activities and held two elected positions for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Fondren; daughter, Holly Fondren; sons, Clay, and Fredrick (Katherine) Fondren; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, H.V. Sr. and Amy Fondren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. (Twin City)
