Hale “Hoss” J. Roundtree Sr., 86, a native and resident of Schriever, La., died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012.
Mr. Roundtree was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was held as a prisoner of war in Germany for a 17 month period. After returning to Louisiana, he was employed as foreman at Thibodaux Boiler Works and an electrician at Nicholls State University. He was a member of the VFW and a parishioner at St. Bridget Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Roundtree; sons, Hale Jr. and Joseph Roundtree; daughters, Dale Roundtree and Gail Wardlow; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Cecile Roundtree; brother, Alton Roundtree; and sisters, Dorothy Templet and June Boudreaux.
Visitation will be 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 5, at Landry’s Funeral Home in Thibodaux, La., with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Schriever. Interment will be at the church cemetery. (Landry’s)
