Thibodaux church finds its place after 10-year expansion

Harriet Hardeman Callahan, 87, a native of Montgomery, Ala., and resident of Thibodaux, La., died at 1:50 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010.


She was head of the Louisiana History Department at the Louisiana State Library in Baton Rouge from 1966 until 1980. She was a member of the International P.E.O. Sisterhood.

She is survived by her nieces, Gail Miller Tracy, Christine C. Hebert, Darnell C. Burkett, Joretta C. Landry and Janna C. Positerry; four nephews, James, Gary, Glen and John Miller; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert A. Callahan; parents, Harry and Harriett Currie Hardeman; uncles, Brice and William P. Hardeman; and aunts, Minnie and Ruby Currie and Bertha Currie Kinder.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at Chauvin Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
