Harris John Ledet, 81, a native of Pointe-aux-Chenes, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014.

Mr. Ledet was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a golfer, fisherman, hunter, bowler, great father and provider who led by example. He was on the founding board of the Bayou Cane Fire Department and was an insurance agent for 35 years. He served as president of the Independent Agents of Terrebonne, was a founding member of St. Bernadette Parish and served as a lector and Eucharistic minister.


He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carlene Ledet; sons, Arlen (Toni), Brett (Lisa), Craig (Jesslyn) and

Don (Dana) Ledet; daughters, Lynell (Lanny) Ford and Lenar (Lee) Whitney; sisters, Iris Ledet McClesky and Mary Ledet; 14 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Inez Ledet; and two grandchildren.


Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
