November 3, 2010Harry Firmin Hellier Jr., 66, a native and resident of Houma, La., died at 5:16 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 2010.
Mr. Hellier was a schoolteacher from 1969 to 2001 where he retired from Ellender Memorial High School. He was a parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church and a past president of the Louisiana Numismatic Association. He loved coins, politics, the New Orleans Saints and especially religion. He was often referred to as a walking encyclopedia.
He is survived by his sisters, Libbye and Cyril Ann Hellier; brother, John Tullis Hellier; niece, Stephanie Anne Hellier; two great nephews, Matthew Odom and Nicholas Trahan; and one great niece, Keri Trahan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Sr. and Cyril Tullis Hellier; one brother, David Bruce Hellier; and one nephew, David Bruce Hellier Jr.
He is buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
