Hewitt “Goat” J. Gautreaux Sr., 87, a resident of Patterson, La., died Tuesday, June 28, 2011.


Mr. Gautreaux served as a Fireman 2nd Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an accomplished music teacher and played guitar with the legendary Fats Domino. He retired from the railroad and enjoyed spending his life with his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.


He is survived by his wife, Elverda Gautreaux; sons, Hewitt Jr. (Mathilda) and Cletus (Tacy) Gautreaux; daughter, Carolyn Nimion; sister, Stella Dalton; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Noelie Gautreaux; brothers, Lester, Roswell and Edric Gautreaux; and sisters, Mildred Marshall, Mazy Martin and Gertrude Gautreaux.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, July 1, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson with a memorial mass to follow. He will be laid to rest with full military honors provided by the United Veterans League. (Twin City)
