Hubert J. Baudoin Jr., 73, a native and resident of Lockport, La., died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, after a long battle with cancer.

Mr. Baudoin was a successful man who had accomplished many goals during his lifetime. He was a graduate of Nicholls State College with a master’s in business. His degree brought many challenges in life with long careers with Sealtest Ice Cream, both in Louisiana and Puerto Rico. Later his journeys led him to work for Magnolia Liquor, the Catholic Seminary College, Breaux Petroleum and Southern Guard Service. He was deeply dedicated to his religious faith in God and was active in community organizations. Hubert was also a musician with a lifelong love of the piano and organ. He was a member of a few bands and gracefully played music at his church where the sounds of joyous notes brought warmth to his fellow parishioners. He belonged to Bethel Christian Ministries of Golden Meadow.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Ledet Baudoin; brother, Donald (Jeanette) Baudoin Sr.; three godchildren, Melanie Baudoin O’Gwynn, Brian Scott and Bambi Lynn Rivet; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Sr. and Mae T. Baudoin.

Hubert has donated his body to studies at the LSU Bureau of Anatomical Service. There will be a private memory service for the family at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport. Therefore your prayers and spiritual intentions to assist him in fulfilling the journey to his final resting place in heaven will be deeply appreciated. His memory will live on within the hearts and minds of so many.

May the angels of the Lord open the pearly gates and before him shall stand his child, his servant and his friend, Hubert. May God accept him with open arms, as this man whom stands before him has come with such devotion of love and faith. After a long faithful journey hereby Hubert’s new life shall begin. His memory shall not fade, as one day we will see him again.

His wife, Janice, would like to extend her gratitude to their family and friends whom assisted in his time of need. With a special thanks to Alvin and Connie Vedros, and Louis “Buck” and Jan Cheramie.
