Imogene Whisenhunt Chauvin, 91, a native of Levita, Texas, former resident of Houma, La., and resident of Abbeville, La., died at 10:25 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010.


Mrs. Chauvin enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and travel. She was a parishioner of Maria Immacolata Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Norman) Ledet and Beverly Findley; son, Charles Chauvin; nine grandchildren, Arleen (Jude) Bellard, Myra (James) Aubin, Sharon (Kevin) Granger, Eric (Linda) Chauvin, Todd Chauvin, Charmaine (Tracy) Pitre, Erika Rhodes, Chad Moore and Scott (Laurie) Moore; 18 great-grandchildren, Brian and Patrick Bellard, Riley, Katelan and Garrett Granger, Michael, Megan, Joseph and Gabrielle Aubin, Sinjon and Keaton Chauvin, NIcholas and Kaden Chauvin, Madelyn and Lillian Grace Pitre, Olivia Rhodes, Laurestine Hollie and Trent Moore; and sisters, Waldine Boswell, Robbie Morton and Wilda Jackson.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Minnie Whisenhunt; husband, Bill Chauvin; and one son, Thomas “Leroy” Chauvin.

She is buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
