Inez Culpepper Swicegood, 85, a native of Morton, Texas and a resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010.

She is survived by her sons, Richard (Leah) and Jay Swicegood; brother, Buddy Culpepper; sister, Evelyn Head; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Connie Culpepper; and one grandson.


Inez owned and operated a beauty shop in Morton, Texas. She lived in Arizona, working with her brother selling Indian jewelry prior to retiring to Houma. Throughout her life, she had three passions, her love of the Lord, her love for family and helping others.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Terrebonne Childrens’ Advocacy for abused children, 500 School St., Houma, La. 70360.


She is buried at Garden of Memories Cemetery.Inez was a dedicated, loving, caring and giving Christian. This was her legacy. She was one of those people who touched others’ lives and became part of them, sharing in their happiness, their hurts and dreams. She was very close to her family and friends. She loved unconditionally, building trust and respect that was lasting and will continue to be a reflection of the life she always lived. She leaves a part of her heart to everyone she touched and it will make our lives brighter and happier as we remember her as time goes by. You have gone home to be with you Lord and Savior… See you later. I love you better, your loving sister, Evelyn Head and family.
