Irene Billiot

Irene Marie Billiot, 75, a native of Dulac, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Friday, August 24, 2007, at 2:50 a.m.

She is survived by three sons, James Courteaux Sr., Ivy Courteaux Jr., and Ronald “Raymond” Courteaux Sr.; six daughters, Shirley Dupre, Mary Ann Breaux, Theresa Ellender, Shirlene V. Clary, Marlene Dupre, and Mary Jane Verrett; two brothers, Clifford Billiot and Antoine Billiot; one sister, Lorena Billiot Parfait Dardar; 50 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Ivy Courteaux; her parents, Henry Ozema Billiot and Mandy Irene Foret Billiot; one daughter, Jeanette Courteaux; and three brothers, Henry Billiot Jr., Albert Billiot and Joseph Billiot.

Irene was a devout Christian. She was a homemaker, a member of the Houma Tribe, and United Pentecostal Church.

She is buried in Magnolia Cemetery.

Chauvin Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
