James “Woody” Woodrow English, 51, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Monday, August 6, 2007, at 1:00 a.m.


He is survived by two sons, Brandon J. English and Garrett E. English; two brothers, John Winston English and David Allen Dickinson; and three nephews, John Winston English Jr. and his wife Julie, Brent Charles English and his wife Mary, and Joshua Dickinson.


He was preceded in death by his parents, John William English Jr. and Leona Duplantis English; one infant sister, Mary Rose C. English; his paternal grandparents, John W. English Sr. and Rose C. English; and his maternal grandparents, Calvin and Clotelle Duplantis.

James was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church. He was an inspector with Gulf South Engineers. He was a charter and lifetime member of The Sons of the American Legion Lennord Hotard Post No. 31, a past member of the Jaycees and a volunteer with the New Orleans Council Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of St. Gregory Choir and the Louisiana Praline Festival.

Visitation is Wednesday, August 8, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the funeral to follow at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church. He will be buries in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
