James “Jim” Garrett Sr., 79, a native of Henrietta, Ok., and resident of Houma, La., died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010.


He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of the West Houma Lions Club, and a past Duke of the Krewe of Flames Carnival Club. His hobbies were playing the guitar and singing with his friends, camping, hunting and fishing. He was a handyman and craftsman, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. He worked for Halliburton for 23 years and retired from B.J Services tool department in Houma.


He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Doiron Garrett; daughters, Bernadette (Francis) Luke, Lisa Ann (Huey Jr.) LeBoeuf and Cindy Sartin; 11 grandchildren, Carolyn Marie (Stewart) Phillips, Brent (Amy) Luke, Bryan (Melissa) Luke, Amanda (Joey) Twiner, Corey Luke, Michael (Jennifer) Sartin, Brady LeBoeuf, Scotty Luke, Ashley (Kyle) Blanchard, Katie Sartin and Christpoher LeBoeuf; and 16 great-grandchildren, Jack, Sydney and Sam Phillips, Mallory, Baby Brent, Alexis, Cody, Dre’ and Kyli Luke, Jansen, Kade and Ragen Twiner, Chloe, Gavin, Logan Sartin, and Isabella Blanchard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Minnie M. Hotchkis Garrett, two brothers, Boyd and Bill Garrett; three sisters, Bobbie Blanchard, Lucille Johnson and Fraces Nicotra; two sons, Jimmy and Johnny Garrett; one son-in-law, Dean Sartin; and one grandson, Joey Garrett.

He is buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 1.
