James “Jim” Edmond Gueydan, 98, a native of Detroit, Mich., and resident of Houma, La., died of natural causes Saturday, March 14, 2015.

Mr. Gueydan earned an MBA with Distinction at Harvard Business School, and was president of the Century Club. He served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Within 13 months, he flew 165 missions. He also volunteered and contributed philanthropically to Nicholls State University, Mount Saint Mary’s Academy in Little Rock, Terrebonne Foundation for Academic Excellence in Public Education, Boy Scouts of America, YMCA, Terrebonne Arts, Terrebonne Historical and Cultural Society, United Way, Houma Terrebonne Public Trust Financing Authority, Terrebonne Houma Chamber of Commerce and Houma Rotary Club.


Surviving Mr. Gueydan is his wife of 14 years Grace Eleanor Dowden Monk; daughters, Sandra Hickey, Pamela Moll, Charlotte Smith and Monica Monk; eight grandchildren; and 12 great- grandchildren.

Visitation begins at 8 a.m. today, March 18, at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at the church with burial to follow at St. Francis No. 2 Cemetery.
