James Joseph “Jimmy” Ayo Sr., 87, a native of Napoleonville, La. and resident of Los Angeles, Ca., died Tuesday, May 5.

He is survived by his wife, Clare Ayo; his four children and their spouses, James Jr. and Mazie Ayo of Baton Rouge, Lois E. and Pete Martinez of Frederick, Md., Parthenia B. Moore of Cary, N.C. and Joseph Sr. and Lisa Ayo of Phoeniz, Ariz.; his 13 loving grandchildren, Javon, Jauntelle, James III, Jalyn, Rachel, Lexington, Robert, Kellen, Peyton, Cameron, Christopher, Desirey and Joseph Jr.; mother-in-law, Beatrice Boyd, two brothers-in-law, Ronald and Walter Boyd; three sisters-in-law, Sylvia Boyd-Howard, Ann and Loretta Boyd; seven great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.


He was a retired employee with the Los Angeles City Department of Sanitation.

Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, conducted by Rev. Albert Holland at Wesley United Methodist Church in Napoleonville, La. with religious services to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Williams and Southall Funeral Home of Napoleonville, La. is in charge of arrangements.
