James Milford Nobles Sr., 83, a native of Washington Parish, La., and resident of Bayou Blue, La., died at 1:06 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011.

Mr. Nobles was a U.S. Army veteran and the former owner of Bayou Blue Shell and Nobles Tire & Service. He was past president of the Bayou Blue Fire Department and Bayou Blue Recreation.


He is survived by his son, J.M. Jr. (Cheryl) Nobles; daughters, Annette (John) Poeppelman and Nancy (Ronnie) Naquin; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Nobles; parents, Silas and Margaret Nobles; daughter, JoAnn Ross; brother, Claude Nobles; and sisters, Velma Evans, Alma Simmons, Vergie Evans, Hazel Bennett and Kathryn Arthur.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, and 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Nov 28, at Samart Funeral Home of Houma, La. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with burial at St. Louis Cemetery. (Samart)
