Janette Benoit Cheramie, 87, a native of Grand Caillou, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012.
Mrs. Cheramie found pleasure in gardening and the beauty of nature. She loved taking her young children fishing around the Houma area as well as to the beach on Grand Isle. Through the years she enjoyed working in arts and crafts. Her strong faith was a very important part of her life and brought her comfort. She was a member of Living Word Church.
She is survived by her son, Bertoul III (Joan) Cheramie; daughter, Sonja-Lee (Anthony) Pollino; brother, Melvin Sr. (Blackie) Benoit; sisters, Junietta Buquet, Irene (Delvin) Boudreaux and Mae Fanguy; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Corinne Benoit; husband, Bertoul Cheramie Jr.; brother, Myron Benoit; and sister, Gladys Benoit.
Burial was at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
