John William Barker, 89, a native of New Orleans, La., and resident of Lockport, La., died at 11:23 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2012.

Mr. Barker was a parishioner of St. Hilary Catholic Church in Mathews, La.


He is survived by his wife, Aline Barker; sons, John (Mary), Alex (Josephine), James (Ann), Michael (Barbara) and Patrick (Ann) Barker; daughter, Aline (Jody) Matherne; sister, Antoinette Lanigan; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Florence Barker; brothers, Frank Jr. and T.M. Barker; and sisters, Florence Foret and Mary LeBlanc.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Falgout Funeral Home in Lockport, and 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at St. Hilary Catholic Church with services to follow. Burial will be at Resurrection Memorial Park Cemetery. (Falgout)
